If you have taken NMN or NAD+, here is the one thing the label never explained: they are not the finished product. They are raw material. The finished product, the form your cells actually use to turn food into energy, is NADH.
Three names, one chain
NMN, NAD+ and NADH are related, but they are not interchangeable. NMN is a precursor: your body has to convert it into NAD+. NAD+ is the empty form: it has to be loaded with energy, in the course of normal metabolism, before it becomes NADH. NADH is the loaded form, the one that hands its energy to the process your cells use to make ATP. So with a precursor you are asking your body to do two extra steps before any energy is made. With NADH, you are delivering the form your cells already use. One step, not three.
None of this means NMN or NAD+ do nothing. It means they start further back on the chain. If you have been taking a precursor, you have not been doing anything wrong. You have been asking your body to do the conversion work first.
Then why does most of the market sell precursors?
Because NADH is fragile. Air, moisture and light break it down, and once it has broken down it is no longer the active form your cells can use. Precursors are much easier to keep on a shelf, and they are much cheaper to source. For a manufacturer, that is an easy choice. For years it kept NADH in laboratories and clinics rather than on shelves.
That is the whole trade, in one line: precursors are stable but indirect; NADH is direct but fragile. Unless someone solves the fragile part.
What we did about the fragile part
PureNADH starts with freeze-dried NADH. Each molecule is bound to a cyclodextrin, a protective ring, and the molecules are kept apart so oxidation cannot spread from one to the next. The complex is dried under vacuum at low temperature and sealed in an acid-resistant capsule designed to open past the stomach. The method is patent-pending, not patented, and we say so. An independent laboratory measured how much NADH stayed in the stabilized formulation every month from March to June 2026: every reading within 5% of the first.
What has been measured is shelf stability. What happens after swallowing has not been measured in a controlled study by the company, and we do not publish absorption percentages. How we stabilized NADH tells the whole story, including what failed first.
What this means if you are switching
- You do not need to stack NADH on top of a precursor. NADH is the form the chain was leading to.
- Nothing about NADH announces itself in twenty minutes. It is not a stimulant. Give it a few weeks with a simple daily note, as chapter 6 of the NADH Series describes.
- Read the label of whatever you take next: the form (NADH, NAD+, or a precursor), the amount per serving, and whether the maker says anything at all about stability.
