Why NADH Is Fragile, and What Stabilization Actually Is

The reason you have rarely heard of NADH is chemistry, not marketing. What breaks the molecule, what "stabilized" usually means, and what we do differently.

NADH works in every cell you have. The reason you have rarely seen it work as a supplement is not that it does nothing. It is that, for decades, most of it did not survive the trip.

What breaks it

NADH is the reduced, energy-carrying form of the molecule. That is exactly what makes it useful, and exactly what makes it fragile. Oxygen pulls the hydrogen off and turns it into NAD+, the spent form. Moisture and light speed that up. Heat speeds it up further. And stomach acid breaks it down before it can be absorbed.

So a plain NADH powder in a plain capsule starts losing what it has on the shelf, and loses most of the rest in the stomach. The number on the label was true on the day it was made.

What "stabilized" usually means

The word covers a lot. Some products press NADH into a tablet with a coating. Some use lozenges meant to dissolve in the mouth. Some rely on an enteric coating alone. Each solves one part of the problem, usually the stomach, and leaves the others, usually oxygen and shelf life, unsolved. When a label says "stabilized", the question to ask is: against what, and how?

What we do

PureNADH uses two layers of protection, which is why we call it dual stabilization. First, each NADH molecule is held inside a cyclodextrin, a ring-shaped sugar, so light and oxygen cannot reach it while it sits on the shelf. Second, that complex goes into an acid-resistant, plant-based HPMC capsule designed to carry it past the stomach. The method was developed in our own facility and filed for patent in August 2026; it is patent-pending, not patented, and we say so.

Everything else follows from that: one ingredient, 99% purity, every batch tested by an independent laboratory, made in our own GMP-licensed facility. How we stabilized NADH tells the whole story: what failed, what held, and who measured it.

How to keep it that way at home

  • Keep the bottle closed, cool and dry. Not the bathroom cabinet, not the windowsill, not the car.
  • Take one capsule in the morning on an empty stomach with a glass of water, then wait about thirty minutes before eating.
  • Do not open the capsule or dissolve it. The capsule is part of the protection.

Why this matters to you

None of this is visible. You cannot taste stability or see it in the bottle. It shows up only in whether the molecule that reaches your cells matches the number on the label, day after day for thirty days. That consistency is the whole point, and it is the part of the product we spent the longest on.

The Science page shows the capsule layer by layer. Chapter 4 of the NADH Series tells the same story in five minutes. And How to take NADH in the Energy Library covers the daily routine.
